Character & Citizenship Education Department

  • Every individual matters. Each student and every member of staff carries unique strengths, experiences, and potential waiting to be nurtured. As an educator, I believe it is both a responsibility and a privilege to develop every individual to the fullest of their abilities.

Growth does not happen by chance—it requires belief, persistence, and deliberate effort. I am committed to never giving up on those I serve, even when progress is slow or challenges arise. Instead, I choose to push ahead with purpose, supporting, guiding, and challenging individuals to move beyond their perceived limits.

True fulfilment in education comes from witnessing growth—no matter how small. Each step forward, each breakthrough, and each moment of confidence gained is deeply meaningful. Knowing that I have played a part in someone’s journey of growth is both a profound responsibility and a lasting source of personal satisfaction

      • My philosophy is grounded in being purposeful and value-driven. I don’t believe in doing things for the sake of doing them—every lesson and interaction should add value to students’ learning and growth.

I focus strongly on holistic development, ensuring that students grow not just academically, but also in character, resilience, and critical thinking. I’m also a reflective practitioner, always refining my teaching to better support my students.

Ultimately, I aim to create meaningful learning experiences that leave a lasting impact on my students.

Mdm Nur Shabana Bte Syed Ismail (Teacher)

    • At the heart of my practice is a commitment to character-based education. I believe that while academic excellence is a worthy pursuit, it must be anchored by resilience, integrity, and graciousness. My goal is to nurture students who are not only competent but also compassionate citizens who understand the importance of placing others before themselves.

I believe growth flourishes in a safe, inclusive, and positive culture. When students feel a true sense of belonging, they are more likely to engage deeply and take risks. By cultivating a growth mindset, I encourage my students to view challenges as opportunities rather than setbacks, ensuring they are lauded for their effort and the progress they make along their unique learning journeys.

I am driven by the power of community and lifelong learning. Whether it is witnessing a student’s “lightbulb moment”, collaborating with my colleagues in professional learning communities, or partnering with parents, I am energized by the collective effort it takes to raise a child. Knowing that I am contributing to a supportive ecosystem that shapes the future of our society is what brings me to school with passion every day.
